Race tracks are hard on race cars. Case in point: At Road America, a rock punched its way through my headlight. Time to make a new one.
Creating a lightweight headlight is easy.
STEP 1: Start with a new, fully functioning headlight.
STEP 2: Trace a cut line on the back side of the headlight making sure to leave all mounting tabs.
STEP 3: Cut along the line (a Dremel tool works great).
STEP 4: Remove the back side of the light, revealing the inner structure.
STEP 5: Remove the rest of the inner structure.
STEP 6: You're left with a clear light lens and all the required mounting tabs needed to reinstall the light.
